Chinese school being moved to a polluted area

In September 2007, the Selangor Education Department approved the relocation of the Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsan Pin Hwa 2, a Chinese vernacular school currently located along Jalan Goh Hock Huat in Klang.

The approval was granted despite strong protests from concerned parents. The new location for the school is now at Aman Perdana some 12 km from the present location. The parents are objecting to the new location due to what they say is the high level of air pollution there.

The Parents Committee to Save Pin Hwa School, set up in August 2006, argues that the high level of air pollution at the new site will severely affect the health of the student, This factor, they said, had not been considered by the authorities when approving the new site.
